2023 Jack Britton Tennis Trophy

Our congratulations go to Toby Christison from Market Harborough in Leicestershire, who won the 2023 Jack Britton Trophy after beating Loughborough University student Matthew Story for the loss of 3 games.

Held at Nottingham Trent University on Saturday 16th December, the annual event included 12 players from Nottinghamshire and two from Derbyshire to make up the 16 player draw size.

Toby, who was a late reserve for the inured Ben Phillips, beat Sam Smith from Newark TC, Ben Avery and No2 seed Greg Draper, both from Eastwood TC, all in straight sets.

David Britton, son of the late Jack Britton, presented the Trophy and vouchers to the winner and runner-up.

The event is named after the late Jack Britton, Life President and Past Chairman of the Notts LTA and the NLTA League committee. The event is supported by Jack’s family.

The event, which was first held back in 1974, is aimed at non senior county players and gives priority entry to players from Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire and players aged 19 plus.

Our thanks to the Britton Family for their support, Organiser and Referee Andy Bradley and to Nottingham Trent University for hosting.
