Notts Men's O60 Team Report

We just missed out on promotion on the last day of the season and remain in Division 2. Thanks to all the players that played. This year we fielded five players – Tony Alexander, Pete Whitehead, Russ Blenkinsop, Pete Godber and Steve Wallace.

We started off with a 4-1 win at Shropshire only losing the one because Tony had to retire injured.

We followed up with a very close 2-3 loss to West of Scotland. We had hoped the distance would preclude them bringing their strongest team but they played two matches over the weekend and brough their Scotland No 1. We lost the second singles on a match tie break.

Next up a 4-1 home win against Cambridgeshire winning two out of three match tie breaks.

This set us up for the final match away to Buckinghamshire with whoever wins gaining promotion. They fielded their strongest team including the GB Over 60’s men’s captain and had a deserved 4-1 win.

Thanks to all five players, to Todd Johnson for hosting us at David Lloyd West Bridgford and Julia Griffith for hosting us at West Bridgford Tennis Club. Special thanks to Pete Godber for driving down separately to Bucks and playing while ‘under the weather’.
