Open day set to net new members for Mansfield Lawn Tennis Club
Mansfield Lawn Tennis Club’s (MLTC) second Open Day of 2024 on Saturday 6 July attracted a good number of potential new members. The event which was part of the Lawn Tennis Association’s (LTA) Big Tennis Weekend initiative.
Membership Secretary Helen Riby commented: “Interestingly the July Open Day saw more adults than juniors taking part in the activities organised by the club’s head coach, Gareth Griffiths. It’s normally more juniors than adults. The adult cardio session proved particularly popular as did the Pickleball. Gareth was ably assisted on court by Vlad Kourotchkine, Dawn Morgan and Gabriels Murmanis.
“A heavy shower just before the gates opened probably supressed numbers a little and of course England were also playing late afternoon so the July event was more about quality than quantity of visitors. I’m pretty confident that we will get five or six new members from the afternoon which makes the event well worth putting on. Of course it’s not just about new members, it’s our chance to reach out to our local community,” adds Helen.
Homemade sausage rolls and cakes, hot and cold drinks, strawberries & cream and ice creams were on sale and enjoyed by members and visitors alike.
The Open Day couldn’t go ahead without its team of volunteer members and past members. Thanks go to Sally Beeley, Rachael Harby, Jan Hodgetts, Vikki Kourotchkine, Simon Mason, Sarah Ramsey, Helen Riby and Teresa Smith and to Gareth and his on court team.
